Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life. Students in pre-K through grade 12 create original works of art from 1 of 6 categories in response to a theme.

2024-2025 Reflections Theme:

This years theme is "Accepting Imperfection" Its a reminder that there is so much beauty around us all the time. We want our students to be able to see it and express it.

Congratulations to Amelia Harrell Our 2020 State Finalist!

Dance - 1st Grade

“I dance because it is fun and I can express my feelings through movement. i matter because I show that anyone can do anything they want to if they work hard.”

Congrats on becoming a Washington State Finalist!

Dance - 4th Grade

“We did Punjabi Bhangra. It related to our work because, it shows how the dad matters to the girl, and how the girl matters to the dad sometimes in the video. It also shows how her dad's friends matter to her dad. That is how it is related to the theme I matter because…”

Literature - 2nd Grade

“I wrote a poem about how I feel & why I matter”

Literature - 5th Grade

“This piece of writing relates to the theme because, it slides between point of views for kids from different ethnicities, at different dates, and situations where they face inequality of some sort . This show struggles from the past, and the present, and reminds the reader that they matter, no matter what they endure.”

Literature - 8th Grade

“I matter because I have a point of view. If we didn't have a point of view, no one would take us seriously. Even now, when you tell your point of view to people, they will ignore you and pretend that your point isn't valid. That is why we should be strong and united to speak up even though others may not listen; it is still important to get your point across. If we didn't have our own thoughts I don't think we would matter that much as a human.”

Visual Art - 1st Grade

“Plants are so pretty they matter to me.”

Visual Arts - 2nd Grade

“I matter because... of my own personality. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, it matters what you look like on the inside!”

Visual Arts - 8th Grade

“I matter because I can help people. For example, I enjoy helping the homeless to get food and find a safe place. Another example of helping people is supporting local small businesses. I believe that encouraging those businesses can empower them to be their best during hard times like the COVID-19 pandemic. I personally think that we were made to help people instead of standing there looking around. Also, I feel like it is a good thing that people can help others and make a very big impact, especially during these times.”

Visual Arts - 4th Grade

“whats happening right and she is thinking why she matters and the mask means no matter what i do i will matter”
